Real World AC Load Simulation to 4500W

Test engineers in need of real world AC load simulation up to 4500W that provides highly accurate load levels over a broad range of values with integrated measurement capability……The Chroma 63800 Series AC/DC Electronic Load is the solution.

AC Loads vs Resistors

Resistors have typically filled a need to inexpensively load AC output devices; however using resistors presents disadvantages to the testing process:

Elaborate switching/resistor networks are needed to automatically change load levels

Resistors provide only unity power factor, thus do not simulate real world loads

Resistors impedance change with temperature so accurate load levels are nearly impossible to obtain

Current shunts and DMMs are also needed to measure actual load current and voltages

The Solution

Chroma’s 63800 series includes an industry-first circuit simulation mode allowing users to program circuit values directly with dimple power factor and crest factor values instead of approximating load conditions. Other advantages include:

Performs both AC and DC load simulation

Constant and Rectified Load Modes

Programmable In Rush Mode

Automatic Bandwidth Adjustment

Parallel / 3-Phase Control

Programmable Crest Factor and Power Factor

Integrated, accurate measurement capability for V, I, PF, CF, P, Q, S, F, R, Ip+/-, and THDv

Stability at 400Hz

Front Panel Controls

The Chroma 63800 Series AC/DC loads are designed for multiple-industry testing applications including uninterruptible power supplies, off-grid inverters, AC power sources and other power devices such as switches, valves, breakers, fuses, and connectors.
