The digital storage oscilloscope, or DSO for short, is now the preferred type of oscilloscope for most industrial applications, although simple analog CROs are still used by many hobbyists. The DSO replaces the often unreliable storage method used in analog storage oscilloscopes with digital memory, which can store data as long as required without degradation.
